Portfolio Spotlight: Steptoe & Johnson

With grassroots beginnings in Virginia, Steptoe & Johnson LLP has grown to be an internationally recognized law firm with more than 100 years of practice. Steptoe employs over 500 lawyers and has other offices in Beijing, Brussels, Chicago, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco. Ranked 124th nationally, their firm is known for their white-collar defense against government investigations as well as high-stakes litigation. Located at 1330 Connecticut Ave, Washington D.C., the Steptoe & Johnson headquarters is home to a lush amenity space installed by our knowledgeable crew, here at Elevation Greenroofs.

We supplied and installed 700 sqft of VersaLush EasyTurf™  to the Steptoe & Johnson rooftop patio to create a bocce ball court. To complement this fun addition, we created a relaxing lounge area and garden to promote community and conversation. The garden is a mix of perennials and grasses, including: Sundown coneflower™ , Knock Out® rose and Pink Muhly grass; with floating wooden benches lining the perimeter. Other supplies for this garden include Hanover® pavers, Green Roof Outfitters wood decking tiles, Firestone™ drain components, and Owens Corning® insulation.

S&J professionals enjoy monthly partner luncheons celebrating their successes and sharing experiences. This rooftop amenity provides the perfect space for hosting gatherings for team building and celebration.  This natural space can help improve both workplace satisfaction and productivity.

In addition to the rooftop greenery, an herb garden was installed right outside the kitchen. With easy access to herbs including thyme, cilantro, basil, and mint. Access to fresh herbs allows S&J chefs to elevate the meals they provide, and save money. While functional, the herb garden  provides benefits beyond the obvious use. It’s natural beauty and pleasant aroma further enhances the outdoor environment.
